Ali Sher has started in stand-up comedy since 2016. In 2014 he moved to the United States from Moscow, Russia straight to Los Angeles, California, knowing that Los Angeles would be the right place to start.
With almost no English and no idea about comedy, he had no choice but to start learning English and volunteering for the very well-known local comedy clubs in town. Ali started doing stand-up at age 47 and has been performing all over Los Angeles and other cities ever since.
Ali Sher's comedy is all about his daily observations, his family, his experience wherever he goes. As he says "Everything to me is a joke!" and this is how he sees the world around him.
He has performed on numerous comedy club stages, including Irvine Improv, Brea Improv, Ontario Improv, Ha-Ha Comedy Club, The Dojo of Comedy, The Comedy Store, Laugh Factory, The Comedy Chateau, L.A. Comedy Club at STRAT in Las Vegas, and many others.
In August 2021, he won a two-minute set open mic contest among 28 comedians held by the world-famous Laugh Factory comedy club in Hollywood. As Ali says, "This was one of my greatest achievements, knowing that just a few years ago I came to this country with no English and no stand-up experience".
Ali became very well known as the first Russian-Asian comedian within the industry.
